Wikia Introduces "Evolution" Toolbar To Expand Reach To Other Search Engines
Like many before it, most recently Mahalo, Wikia Search has introduced a Firefox toolbar, called "Wikia Evolution," to expand the site's reach and engage more users in the process of adding and annotating search results.

Redirects: Good, Bad & Conditional
Whenever you make changes to a web site, one of the most important considerations should be how to use "redirects" to alert the search engine to your changes to avoid having a negative impact on your search rankings. Whether you're moving pages around, switching CMS platforms, or just wanting to avoid duplicate content and PageRank dilution, you'll want to employ redirects so as not to squander any link juice (PageRank) that your site has acquired. There are multiple ways of redirecting, and it's important you get it right if you want the SEO benefit without risk of falling outside search engine guidelines (such as is the case with "conditional redirects").

Call me a freak.. I can take it…. Or call me old… cause I am getting there, but once upon a time links meant more than ToolBar PageRank and SERP referrers, they meant actual surf-in traffic. I wanted to start out by stating that it is still a consideration. Don’t focus obsessively on building links willy-nilly in an attempt to rocket up the ranks and become a gazillionaire!! Don’t fool yourself, some links can actually bring in some pretty good traffic all on their own folks - don't get myopic.
